Welcome to 1st Marathon Training Virtual Coach. So you’ve decided to try you luck at the marathon, ah. Well I’m sure I can help you get through this 16 to 24 week training program. I’ve been through it a number of times myself and have experience many of it challenges.
The 16 Weeks Marathon Training Program is meant to help the average runner achieve the goal of finishing a 1st marathon without injury. The riggers of training for a marathon are risky. It can lead to tearing down the body and can leave a person being tired, cranky, sore, or even injured. The cranky part comes from being tired and patience tend to wear thin when you are tired.
These symptoms can cause a premature end to another wise promising running life or more commonly cause damage that will surface as a runner ages. The stress on the joint (hips, knees and spin) are significant, especially when training on pavement or harder surfaces. While it is good to expose your body to the surface of your planned event, to much pavement can be harmful and damaging to the body.
1st off you need to ask yourself, are you ready to undertake this challenge. If you are just a beginner, say only running a couple times a week, less than 10 miles per week, I would suggest that you are not ready. I will still be more than happy to work with you to get you to the point of being ready, and even work to prepare you for a shorter goal, like 1/2 marathon, but it will be a longer training period than 16 weeks to tackle a marathon.
I have two programs to offer. First, starting at just $4.95 per month is the Basic plan. This plan is more for self management with little need for coaching input. I offer tips, access to online training log with Training Peaks, and an Excel Ebook Training log. The second opiton is the Premium plan. With this plan you get a lot more personal attention from me and expanded functionality from Training Peaks. You can check the chart below to see which works best for you. You can also upgrade to Premium at any time after setting up a Basic plan. When choosing a Premium account, you may cancel at anytime and your subscription will simply end. Your data will be kept and your account will be converted to a Basic subscription!
